Terminal Tiga

I could still remember that when I was in Form 4 I studied a Malay novel called "Terminal Tiga" .The novel which was written by Othman Puteh was a compulsory reading material for our Malay Literature studies.I didn`t read the whole novel but only study about the plot, the synopsis, characters and other literature components so I knew the story line.

Terminal Tiga means "The Third Terminal".The main character was from the inland of Sabah. He left his hometown in order to further his studies in Kuala Lumpur. The Terminal Tiga refers to Kuala Lumpur Airport and also Kuala Lumpur where worked very hard in order to make his life better.

It left two days for me to go back to Kedah to continue my studies.Since there is no direct flight from Miri to Penang I have to stop at Kuala Lumpur and transit to Penang.I feel like my experience is more or less similar to the main character in Terminal Tiga. Both of us lest our hometown to further our studies but I`m more lucky because I`m from a good family.Unlike the main character whose father was run away when he was very young.

If I say Miri is the first "terminal" in my life and KL is my second terminal, then Penang and Kedah would be my third teminal.Penang International Airport is the place where I start my journey either back to my hometown or the starting point of my journey back to my university. This is the place where I have lots of feeling and I would definitely think a lot when I was in the airport, thinking about everything in uni, thinking about my parents and grandparents in my hometown...

So the 3months holidays have to mark a full stop here.I`m leaving very soon and probably will only come back next year, during the Chinese New Year.Though this is a non-productive holidays for me but I did learn and experience new things.I realized how important am I to my parents and my family. This is something that I never expect to see during this holidays.

Sarawak Special - Diang Biang Hu

Diang Biang Hu (鼎边糊) is one of the Sarawakian`s favourite food.People normally take this as their breakfast."Diang Biang Hu" is actually a type of the Foo Chow people food which was brought by our ancestors from China to Sarawak .

A bowl of Diang Biang Hu consists of fish balls, minced pork, fried onion, black fungus and the "hu" which taste like "cai kueh"(a type of kueh). And all these are mixed in concentrated soup base.It is best served when still hot.It tastes a little bit salty due to the ingredients used. For me I would add some pepper to enhance the taste.

Diang Biang Hu

Since it is Sarawak food it is very easy to find a kopi tiam which sell Diang Biang Hu. But I would recommend the one that sold at Hung Yun Cafe and Public which are located at Mosjaya Miri. The soup is just nice, not too "diluted".

If you have a chance to visit Sarawak do not miss this delicious food!

This is OMG OMG!!!

For those who read my previous post you will know that my favourite national football team is SPAIN and my favourite player is FERNANDO TORRES!!!My biggest dream is to own a Spain jersey but I can not afford to have one because I`m a student.

They jersey is produced by Adidas which cost approximately RM125.As I`m not working this is a very big amount of money.Besides I will feel guilty if I buy it.

So now there`s a GREAT news to me!My friend showed me a website selling Spain National Football Team jersey by Adidas at only RM45.90,without printing the players` name at the back.

Look down...

Tadaaa!!!This is the one!Look like the genuine one.

And this is the one with my TORRES`s name. But it is more expensive.RM55.

Yay I`m now so so so so happy!!On cloud nine!

No doubt I will definitely get the jersey !!

Spacial thanks to Ling Ker Sing for telling me about this.Muchas Gracias!

What is Biotech?

These are the questions that the elderly always ask me during the holidays.

"Girl, you a university student right? How great are you!Which year are you in?"
"Erm..Yes.Thanks.I just finished my first year?"

"Where are you studying?"
and my mom or my grandmother will reply "KL"

*HELLO!KL and Kedah are two different places! And FYI I spent more than 1year to correct them but I failed to correct my grandmother.*

so I will correct the information.

"No,not KL!I`m actually studying in Kedah."

"Which Uni?UUM?"

"I`m studying in a private university.It`s very new,called AIMST."
"Oh.Then what course are you studying?"

"Biotech." *proudly*

"Oh Biotech.But..what is actually Biotech? What is Biotech study about? How to say Biotech in Mandarin?"

I HATE this question most.So I will give the answer depends on my mood.
If my mood was good I would say,"Biotech in Mandarin is 生物科技,is the combination of Biology and technology. We study about Gene,Microorganisms and many more!"

If my mood was not that good or I was lazy to say much I would say "Erm,sorry I don`t know how to say in Mandarin."

After that my grandmother will say Biotech is 农业科技(Agriculture),化学(Chemistry)...bla bla..

Ish.Biotech is a too new thing to them.Even I tell then Biotech in Mandarin is 生物科技 they also won`t understand what is that. That why I`m sick of answering them this sort of question.

Oh I forgot.Sometimes some of the relatives will ask "Do you have a boyfriend?" and this would be the most annoying one.
